Minimally-Invasive, Image-Guided Procedures Performed by US- Trained Interventional Radiologist.

Our Model

Interventional Radiology, also known as vascular and interventional radiology or surgical radiology, is an independent medical specialty that employs minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system. Because of the minimally invasive nature of Interventional Radiology, most procedures do not require general anesthesia, thereby decreasing the added risk of being put to sleep under anesthesia. Interventional Radiology treatments do not involve “open surgery”, which has many benefits, such as:

  • Small incisions, few incisions, or no incisions
  • Less pain
  • Low risk of infections
  • Short hospital stay
  • Quick recovery time
  • Less scarring
  • Reduced blood loss
  • Reduced apprehension

Interventional radiology treatments can be the first-line care option for a wide variety of conditions, notably:

  • Blocked Fallopian tubes, which can be reopened to increase the patient’s chances of getting pregnant
  • Closed vessels, which can be reopened to restore blood flow and save limbs
  • Malignant tumors, especially for lungs and liver cancer (very prevalent in Nigeria due to high Hepatitis B rates), which can treated with minimally invasive targeted intravascular and direct ablation techniques.
  • Fibroids, which can be treated with intravascular techniques stopping the blood flow to the fibroids and no incisions.
  • Non- healing ulcers on diabetic patient’s legs

To address these conditions, the interventional radiologist can employ a number of different techniques, including:

  • Angiography
  • Angioplasty
  • Stenting
  • Thrombolysis
  • Embolization
  • Ablation

Euracare’s consulting Vascular and Interventional Radiologist Dr Hammed Ninalowo is highly experienced in all the relevant interventional techniques. To perform them, our experts rely on Euracare’s cutting-edge medical imaging radiology department, which is equipped with the following Siemens modalities

  • 1.5 Tesla MRI
  • 64-Slice CT
  • Digital X-ray
  • Digital Mammography
  • Ultrasound Systems

In conjunction with Euracare’s team and international trained support team, he ensures that patients are kept safe at all times during the procedures. The team follows stringent international protocols ensuring that no patient receives unnecessary radiation exposure.
