Full Range of Non-Invasive Cardiac Diagnostic Equipment
Non-invasive cardiac testing focuses on the detection of heart disease through safe, external methods. It allows the cardiologist to diagnose and assess a number of heart conditions and diseases, including:
- Heart arrhythmia
- Cardiac arrest
- Coronary artery disease
- Valve disease
- Congenital Heart Disease
- Heart attack (myocardial infarction, coronary occlusion or coronary thrombosis
Euracare is equipped with a full range of sophisticated non-invasive equipment, including:
- Electrocardiogram (ECG)
- Exercise Stress Test (Stress ECG)
- Holter Monitor
- Stress Echocardiogram
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Computed Tomography (CT)
However, non-invasive cardiology methods are not always sufficient to address all cardiac conditions.
For cases requiring more advanced, interventional cardiology procedures, Euracare is equipped with a cardiac catheterization laboratory.
All non-invasive and interventional cardiac procedures are personally supervised or performed by Euracare’s Medical Director Dr Tosin Majekodunmi.
Advanced Siemens Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory for Interventional Cardiac Diagnosis and Treatment
Certain conditions make it necessary to conduct slightly more invasive testing, or interventional procedures, performed in what is called a cardiac catheterization laboratory(“cath lab”).
These procedures include:
Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) – the patient swallows a small probe, about the size of a little finger, which allows a closer look at the heart’s structure and function, as well as at any abnormal tissue around the heart valves, blood leaking backward through a valve and blood clots
Coronary angiogram- a small catheter (hollow tube) is guided through a large artery into the patient’s heart, and dye is given through the catheter to show narrowing in the arteries, heart chamber size, how well the heart pumps, and how well the valves open and close, as well as a measurement of the pressures within the heart chambers and arteries.
Cardiac catheterization procedures are also used to treat heart diseases and conditions without the need for open surgery. For more details about Euracare’s cardiac catheterization treatment capabilities, see here.
Euracare is equipped with an advanced Siemens cardiac catheterization laboratory.
Dr Majekodunmi, Euracare’s medical director and a fully UK – and Canada-trained interventional cardiologist with both adult and paediatric specializations, personally supervises or performs all cardiac diagnosis and treatment procedures.
